Bently UAE

Bentley to release sportiest convertible in its history

The UAE is a wonderful place for fans of sports cars. The nation’s long, open roads and motorways have generous speed limits and beckon drivers with sleek, speedy cars to drive down them. The breathtaking vistas that surround these roads offer the perfect dramatic backdrop for driving. However, choosing the perfect sports car can be a challenge. Luckily, there will soon be a new option for drivers to consider: Bentley are planning to release a sporty new convertible.

Bentley Bentayga Interior

You may not associate Bentley with sporting vehicles. You’re much more likely to imagine large, stately automotives when you think about this manufacturer. However, the luxury car company also offers faster, more lively cars. What’s more, it wants to release the sportiest car in its history next year. The upcoming 2019 Continental GT Convertible is designed to look both sleek and opulent while performing like a high-end sports car.

Bentley is currently testing its new GT Convertible to ensure that it performs impeccably. Based on the vehicle’s specs, we believe that performance should be very impressive. It uses the same powerful 6.0 litre engine as the manufacturer’s SUV, the ‘Bentayga’. Because it’s a much smaller, lighter vehicle, the 2019 Continental GT Convertible will be able to use that engine to accelerate much more quickly and travel at much higher speeds than the heavier Bentayga.

The convertible has an ample horsepower rating of 626bhp and provides 664lb-per-foot of torque. Its advanced drivetrain also ensures that engine-power is sent to all four wheels. While the convertible isn’t an all-terrain vehicle, this should help it cope on unconventional surfaces while also giving drivers a greater level of control over the car’s movement.

Of course, it’s worth remembering that the 2019 Continental GT Convertible won’t be available to the public until next year. There’s still time for Bentley to revise the vehicle’s specs or design. However, what we know so far seems promising.

If you’re interested in buying one of Bentley’s new sports cars, you may wish to consider selling your old car to get the cash you need. Here at Simply Car Buyers, we buy any car in the UAE, so get in touch with us today.

Rolls Royce Dubai

Rolls-Royce unveils luxury off-road vehicle

In many respects, SUVs are the perfect vehicles for drivers in the United Arab Emirates. They are able to handle both the extreme temperatures and rough off-road terrain of the nation’s many desert areas. On the other hand, they also provide space and comfort for drivers who have to negotiate the crowded roads of Dubai and other large cities.

Rolls Royce SUV DubaiSeveral weeks ago, we blogged about BMW’s plans to add a supersized SUV to their range that would be ideal for UAE drivers. However, it turns out that BMW might be outdone by another luxury manufacturer. Rolls-Royce recently unveiled its first-ever SUV, the ‘Cullinan’, which is design to combine the opulence of a classic Rolls with the hardiness of an SUV. The UAE has a highly aspirational culture, which means this ultra-luxurious off-road vehicle should attract a lot of buyers throughout the Emirates.

There’s no denying that the Cullinan offers the sophistication that drivers expect from Rolls-Royce vehicles. The interior is designed to look timeless and stylish. This effect is created using polished wood panelling, high-quality leather and even champagne flute holders. What’s more, its suspension system has been rigorously tested in a variety of locations around the world to make sure it provides a smooth drive on any terrain. As a result, it doesn’t just look luxurious – it should also feel luxurious.

But does it have the power and off-road performance that drivers need from an SUV? The vehicle has 563hp of horsepower and 627lb-ft of torque. This means that it’s not the most powerful SUV on the market (for example, the Bentley Bentayga has notably highly horsepower and torque). However, it is more than powerful enough to cope with the terrain in the UAE. What’s more, when it’s driving on an ordinary road surface instead of desert sand, it has a top speed of 155 miles per hour.

The Rolls-Royce Cullinan isn’t the right vehicle for everyone. It uses a great deal of petrol and its large size makes it ill-suited to negotiating narrow streets. However, UAE drivers with a fondness for both opulence and off-road expeditions are likely to love it. If you’d like to get your hands on a Cullinan, you’ll need a significant amount of money. Over 600 drivers fined for breaking recently-introduced anti-noise pollution laws

In July, 2017, Abu Dhabi amended its traffic laws in order to prohibit excessively noisy cars. The purpose of these laws was to limit noise pollution and make the Emirate’s streets quieter and more pleasant for both motorists and pedestrians. Our regular readers may remember that we discussed these anti-noise laws and how to avoid running afoul of them on this blog at the beginning of the year. Today, we’d like to bring you an important update regarding the impact these laws have had on the motoring community in Abu Dhabi.

Noise Pollution DubaiThe Abu Dhabi police service recently used its Twitter page to announce that over 600 drivers were penalised under the anti-noise pollution laws during the first three months of the year. Precisely 626 drivers were found to be in violation of the laws due to their overly loud vehicles. These motorists were each fined Dh2,000 and received 12 black points on their licences – you can’t have more than 24 black points on your licence in 12 months. Drivers in Abu Dhabi clearly need to be aware that the laws are being taken seriously and enforced vigorously by the local police force.

Although ordinary motorists need to keep the laws in mind, however, it’s important to note that they have mainly been used against deliberate offenders. The majority of the 626 people who have been penalised under the anti-pollution laws had deliberately modified their cars to increase the sound of the engine or exhaust. It seems that so far, the laws have been used to target inconsiderate drivers. By penalising these individuals, the laws may actually make the roads safer for the rest of the motoring community. After all, motorists who deliberately increase their cars’ noise pollution levels may also engage in unsafe driving practices. The anti-noise laws may help to encourage better behaviour.

Of course, not all loud cars are created on purpose. Some vehicles simply make a lot of noise because they are old or because they have been damaged in some way. If you own an older, louder vehicle, we would recommend selling it and investing in a quieter one, just to be safe. After all, it’s important to make sure you’re not penalised under the anti-noise laws.

Here at Simply Car Buyers, we’d be happy to buy your old car. We buy any car, regardless of how cacophonous it sounds! Get in touch today to find out more.

Dubai Car Park

Road Traffic Authority cracks down on illicit Dubai parking yards

Forty Dubai car parks have been forced to close after the Road Traffic Authority (RTA) launched a major crackdown to enforce strict new criteria for parking operators.

In this latest transportation news from the UAE, a total of 165 violations of the new regulations were reported by official RTA inspectors, according to the state news agency WAM, leading to the 40 car parks being closed.

electric car parking DubaiAccording to the chief executive officer of the RTA Traffic and Roads Agency, Maitha bin Adai, all of the offending operators had been granted a grace period in which to meet the new regulations. RTA inspectors closed offending parking yards “after exhausting the grace period”, he said.

The RTA says warnings and official notices have been issued. After liaison with the RTA, Dubai police are now engaged in towing vehicles which remain in the car yards which have been closed, after official violations were issued.

Under the new stipulations, all of Dubai’s car yard operators are required to install sophisticated electronic equipment for the benefit of those using their car parks. This includes easily visible monitors at the entrance of every car park openly displaying the number of car parking slots provided and also all spaces that are currently available.

Each car yard operator also has to display prominently the full particulars of the owner of the car park, as well as a complete list of the tariffs and comprehensive contact details of who runs the car yard.

Maitha bin Adai, the RTA Chief Executive said that additionally, each car yard had to link their electronic car space monitoring system to the RTA’s central system. Further stipulations require that car park attendants have to wear appropriate uniforms which bear the full name of the car yard operator for whom they work.

The RTA inspectors found that some car yards were not meeting other requirements. These include a CCTV security system monitoring the entire site. Twenty four hour lighting of every car parking site also has to be sufficient to meet regulations or face closure.

It’s not clear yet when the 40 car yards will be allowed to reopen.

New revised Speed limits for roads in UAE

Abu Dhabi Police announced on Wednesday to discontinue the additional 20KMph speed buffer thruoughout UAE.

It was announced via social media, that starting from August 12 2018, all speed limits will be changed, and speed buffer will be removed.

Dubai RoadsCurrently, most roads have a buffer motorists can travel upto 20kmph faster than what is advertised as the speed limit without getting a fine.

From August 12, drivers which happen to be travelling on a road which has a speed limit of 100 kph, will be fined if their speed becomes 101kph.

This decision has been based on some recent traffic safety studies, which aims to increase the safety levels in Abu Dhabi.

It was also told that the studies invloved in helping make this decition also included a traffic survey which identified driver behaviours as per the road’s speed limit, and compared the same with standard speed limits and buffers with other countries that have achieved outstanding results in traffic safety levels.

UAE’s leadership is strongly interested in the safety of road users, while providing the best standards in road planning & infrastructure projects and utilising latest international systems and practices, in order to save drivers lives from traffic accidents.

Window Tint UAE

New law allows UAE motorists to tint windows and beat the heat

The use of tinted windows in vehicles has always been controversial, no matter what country you are driving in. Window tints are designed to limit the amount of light and heat that enters through the windows and windscreen. However, the darker the tint, the less visibility the driver has and the more dangerous the vehicle becomes. Striking a balance is crucial, and laws in most nations restrict window tinting to light tints that don’t compromise safety.

However, motorists in the UAE have been campaigning for darker tints in vehicle windows, and a new law passed last summer which permits tinting on all windows to 50% – with the exception of the windscreen. Windscreen tinting is permitted, up to a maximum level of 30%. These changes have been brought in under the revised Federal Traffic Law 2017, and they have been welcomed by motorists and by workshop engineers.

Drivers will still face a fine of AED 1,000 for breaches of the law. Fines rise in accordance with the extent of the breach. Auto workshop owners and workers need to be aware of the law and ensure that any window tints they apply do not exceed the 50% limit. It is important to choose a reputable and reliable auto shop for window tint work, as a poorly applied tinting film can warp and distort, reducing vehicle visibility. Most tints applied by professionals are guaranteed for several years.

Window tinting reduces the heat inside the vehicle, making driving safer and more comfortable. The tints also filter out some of the harmful UV rays emitted by the sun, which are dangerous to the skin. Window tints are recommended for anyone driving in hot conditions. They do reduce visibility – especially at night – so drivers using window tints must be extra vigilant when they take to the road. In the daytime, window tints can reduce the glare from the bright sun. On balance, window tints could lead to a reduction in the overall road accident rate.

New legislation permits UAE residents to drive in almost 50 countries without an international license

UAE residents are now eligible to drive cars in nearly 50 countries around the world without the need for an international license. While residents were previously able to drive in Slovakia, Austria, Finland, China, Romania, Serbia and Denmark without having to apply for an additional license, the legislation has been extended to include the following countries also:

• Australia
• Canada
• Bahrain
• Algeria
• Djibouti
• France
• Finland
• Hungary
• Greece
• Iraq
• Latvia
• Italy
• Ireland
• Kuwait
• Jordan
• Lithuania
• Lebanon
• Mauritania
• New Zealand
• Norway
• Palestine
• Oman
• Poland
• Saudi Arabia
• Syria
• Switzerland
• Tunisia
• USA
• Turkey
• UK
• Yemen

Likewise, many residents from these countries are now eligible to drive cars in the UAE on their current driving license. Visitors from these countries simply need to submit a legal translation of their license into Arabic, a passport-sized photograph and a letter from their employer.

Dubai Roads

What this means

The new rules are great news for those who travel frequently in and out of the UAE on business, as it provides them with greater flexibility to drive when conducting international business.

Selling car in UAE

While this technically means that visitors would be free to bring their own vehicles to and from the country, those moving away for a prolonged period might consider selling their car in the UAE prior to leaving. This is because many of the countries listed in the new legislation drive on the left-hand side of the road. While it is perfectly acceptable to drive a left-hand drive vehicle in most of these countries, many car buyers prefer the convenience of a car setup for the region.

Of course, those driving luxury cars might not wish to part with their pride and joy and may decide to leave their vehicle in storage until they return. Regardless of individual choices, there can be no denying that the new license rules will provide thousands of UAE residents with greater flexibility when travelling around the world.

Dubai Smart Radars

Say hello to the new smart radars in UAE

The Abu Dhabi police force have announced that a new smart radar will begin operating this month. Whilst this piece of car news may not exactly be welcomed by all supercar owners in Abu Dhabi, it will be introduced to make the roads a much safer place. In an effort to forewarn all motorists, the police have stated the radar will be in use throughout Abu Dhabi across all major road networks before being rolled out further.

Starting in mid-April, the radar will be placed on all roads that run through and around the Emirate. The radar works by instantly scanning number plates to ensure the car’s registration is still in date and hasn’t expired.

Instant fines

In line with driving laws within the UAE, all vehicle owners who are caught by the new smart radar system will receive an AED 500 fine. Not only that, but they can expect their vehicle to be impounded and they’ll also receive four black points on their licence. With the new system up and running on April 15th, time is of the essence for all vehicle owners who have expired registrations or insurance. The only way to ensure you don’t incur a fine is by making sure everything is up to date with your vehicle.

Cutting down human effort

By using the new system, the Abu Dhabi police force can expect to have more resources at their disposal. Chasing down expired registrations and drivers without proper insurance can be incredibly time consuming, but with the smart radars automatically detecting expired registrations and insurance, Abu Dhabi police officers are able to concentrate their attention on maintaining road safety. That means safer roads for all motorists throughout the country.

Positive change

Brigadier General Ahmad Al Shehi, who holds the deputy director position within the police force’s Traffic Directorate, stated that he expected the rules to ‘bring in positive results’. He also urged all motorists to renew any expired plates and he expects more motorists will adhere to vehicle licensing laws now that the smart radars are on their way. One thing is for sure, those who don’t can no longer expect to escape punishment whenever they travel in and around Abu Dhabi.

EV charging Dubai

UAE launches scheme to install free EV charging points across country

In an effort to cut emissions and reduce its dependency on conventional fuels, the UAE has been trying to encourage the uptake of electric cars for several years. Various incentives (including free parking) are available to electric vehicle-drivers and charging stations have been widely installed across several Emirates. In addition to these existing incentives, the UAE authorities have recently launched a new scheme that will dramatically improve the affordability and convenience of utilising electric cars.

electric car parking DubaiThe UAE plans to install free electric car charging points across all its Emirates. This will ensure that electric vehicle owners will always be able to find somewhere to charge their cars while also enabling them to save money.

Hybrid car owners may be a little disappointed by the scheme, as the new charging points will be reserved exclusively for electric cars that produce no emissions. The scheme is designed to persuade drivers to choose the cleanest cars on the market, so it makes sense to limit charging point access to zero-emission vehicles only.

Many of the new charging points will be provided by Tesla, one of the world’s foremost electric vehicle manufacturers and innovators. As a result, drivers of electric cars can rest assured that the charging points will work perfectly. What’s more, they should be fast and efficient. According to a recent article published in Gulf News, during a one-hour charge, a charging station should provide enough power for a typical electric vehicle to travel 100km. Drivers will only have to charge their vehicles for a few hours in order to get enough power to cross long distances.

Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are already involved in the scheme, so if you live in any of these emirates, now is the perfect time to purchase a zero-emission electric vehicle. It might seem like a big investment, but you’re bound to save money in the long-run.

Of course, if you need help raising the money to buy a new electric car, we can help. Here at Simply Car Buyers, we are happy to buy any car, so why not sell us your old, petrol-fueled vehicle and invest in an electric car as soon as possible?

Save more fuel UAE

How to save fuel in the UAE

The United Arab Emirates is a big place, and petrol can be expensive. If you’re a motorist in the UAE, you may be wondering how you can save money on fuel in order to make your daily commute a little cheaper. If so, you’ll be pleased to hear that Gulf News recently published a list of tips for saving fuel when driving around the UAE. We’ve collated these tips with other pieces of advice from reputable sources to provide you with a straightforward guide to cutting down on your petrol costs.

UAE Fuel Petrol

1. Pay attention to the weather

Because the weather in the UAE is usually so warm – with an average temperature of 41 degrees Celsius in the summer – many drivers get into the habit of keeping their air conditioning on constantly – not a problem we have in the UK. This wastes a lot of fuel. Pay attention to the ambient temperature and turn off your AC whenever the weather is cool enough. Even if you can only turn off your air conditioning once every few days, you’ll end up saving a lot of money on fuel over the course of the year.

2. Travel lightFuel UAE

Many people carry a lot of items that aren’t really necessary in the boots of their cars. This added weight causes vehicles to burn more fuel. Check your boot every few weeks to make sure you’re not carrying any heavy items that you might have forgotten about. If you are, put them in the house – especially those golf clubs – your car will use petrol more efficiently if it doesn’t have to carry as much weight.

3. Turn off the engine whenever possible

Whenever you need to stop your car for a few minutes (for example, to drop someone off or unload goods), we recommend turning off the engine. Even leaving it running for a few minutes wastes petrol.

4. Downsize your car

Of course, if you really want to save money on petrol, the easiest way to do it is to invest in a smaller, more fuel-efficient car.

Here at Simply Car Buyers, we care about helping you reduce your petrol bill. If you do choose to invest in a smaller, lighter car, we can help. We buy any car, so we can offer you a good price for your old vehicle to help you raise the funds you need.
