Ford Equator Sport 2025: No Front-Grille
The joint venture between Ford and JIANGLING launched the refreshed Equator Sport without front grille in China. This model arrives just three years after the original version debuted. The updated design aligns with the latest trends and will soon offer a hybrid powertrain option. Outside China, this vehicle known as the Territory and is slightly smaller than the Equator. Both vehicles recently appeared on the lists of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The Equator now officially features on the JIANGLING Ford website ahead of its market launch. Moreover, one of the most notable updates is the new front design. A black panel connects the new headlights with the bumper openings, replacing the large grille of the previous model. While the side profile and rear door remain unchanged, the back section now sports a simpler look. Ford has introduced new wheel options, including 20-inch wheels, and two new exterior colors: Wild-Green and Cactus-Gray.
Versatility
The updated SUV is slightly longer, measuring 4,685 mm. This is an increase of 55 mm from the previous version. Other dimensions, including the wheelbase, remain unchanged at 2,726 mm. Interior updates are less noticeable, with new trim options being the most significant change. The Equator Sport retains its dual 12.3-inch digital displays but now features an upgraded audio system with ten speakers. In comparison, other Ford models in China, such as the Evos, Mondeo, and Explorer, have slightly larger screens. The vehicle boasts a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces 168 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. Power sent directly to the front wheels via a dual-clutch automatic transmission. In addition to the non-electric version, Ford will soon add a hybrid version offering 215 horsepower. This refresh reinforces Ford’s commitment to enhancing its SUV lineup in the competitive automotive market.
